Here's the deal: I just looked at new refrigerators and...

Sears has a large selection, probably the largest
They are having a sale and free delivery
Some of the sale prices and all free delivery ends this Thursday, January 15th
All the rest end this Saturday, January 17th
We can order a fridge on-line and have it delivered
Free delivery is via rebate and only for fridges over $400
They'll pick up the old fridge at the same time for $10
Ordinary, "top freezer" fridges are the cheapest (bottom and side-by-side start $200-$400 higher)
Our old fridge was only something like 15 cubic feet (and *way* overcrowded)
Yet, the cheapest fridges start at 17-20 cubic feet (smaller fridges are available but are actually more expensive)
Below I've picked out what I consider the most promising models. If you want to see the same list I am picking from go to Sears.com -> Appliances -> Top Freezer Refrigerators then click 'Price' twice to sort by cheapest first. (Note the list you see at first appears to be sorted by price but actually is biased to show Kenmore fridges first. Sneaky.)
I didn't list Kenmore brand from the list above because they seem the same price or more expensive than the Frigidaires, and they are a Sears house brand and are likely lower quality.

Recommendations

I would be wary of the Galaxy, I've never heard of them before. Who knows how long it would last before breaking.

The Frigidaire #1 seems a waste of money after you add in the delivery charges and consider there's no sale discount.

The Frigidaire #2 seems the first reasonable choice.

The Frigidaire #3 and the Frigidaire #4 are the same price. They're a little more expensive but with three roommates sharing one fridge having the extra space would be a welcome relief from the fridge overcrowding we've had in the past (the 18.2's are probably targeted for 1-2 person households). Obviously this would be the best of the inexpensive fridges listed. but of course it would be $60 more.

Logistics

Regardless of which fridge we go with, it seems we must decide ASAP (by say Wednesday night at the latest) on a model to take advantage of the free delivery and the sale prices. Also of course the model we pick could sell out due to the sale.

I would recommend delivery, and paying the $10 for them to pick up the old fridge. As for billing, we could pay for it and deduct it off the next rent check; let me know if you have any other ideas / preferences. The delivery charge is in the form of a rebate; perhaps we could get reimbursed now for the out-of-pocket delivery expense and address the rebate to you.
